State Exam Study Guides — PDF

Study guides and full mock examinations built to the actual format of each state’s exam — not one generic paper with the state name swapped in.

That distinction matters because the exams genuinely differ. Texas is two portions passed independently. Florida is a technical section and a business and finance section, each needing 75%. North Carolina is partially open book — the law and NASCLA sections are closed. Virginia bans handheld calculators outright. South Carolina still tests on the 2017 Code. A guide that ignores all that is not preparing you for the paper you will actually sit.

What each guide contains

  • Your exam at a glance — board, testing vendor, adopted code edition, item counts, time limits, pass mark.
  • What you may carry in, and the rules that get candidates turned away at the door.
  • A full mock exam in that state’s structure, timed per portion.
  • A question bank beyond the mock, organised by subject.
  • Every answer cited to the governing article or table — because on an open-book exam, knowing where it lives beats remembering what it says.

Verify before you sit

Boards revise editions and rules, sometimes at short notice. Each guide names its source, but your own candidate bulletin and authorisation-to-test email are the versions that count.
