What's in the online prep course
The course is a home-study programme you work through at your own pace, built around the specific reference books your exam uses. It is not a video series about electricity in general — it assumes you know the trade and are trying to pass a particular paper.
What it covers
- How to take the exam. Test-taking method for reference-dependent papers: how to read a question for what it is actually asking, how to recognise which book an item belongs to, when to look something up and when to move on and come back.
- Where to tab and where to highlight. Taught against the real reference list, so you build a book that matches the exam rather than tabbing the sections that happen to interest you.
- Practice sets worked book by book. Questions grouped by which reference answers them, which trains the navigation the exam actually tests.
- A timed final. Sat under exam conditions, in the structure your state uses — including, where the state has two portions, as two separately-timed portions.
- Instructor access. A person to ask when a calculation will not come out, rather than a forum thread from 2019.
How long you have
Access is time-limited, and the window differs by course — where we know it, the product page states it. Most run three to twelve months. If you are sitting in six weeks, say so when you order and we will tell you honestly whether the course is worth it in the time you have, or whether you would be better off with a tabbed book and the mock exams.
What it does not include
- The exam fee. You register and pay the testing provider directly. How registration works.
- Eligibility. Hours, experience and any required apprenticeship are set by the licensing board. No course shortens them.
- The books, unless you order a package that includes them. Course-only and books-only options are priced separately on each product page, so if you already own the references you pay only for the course.
Is it worth it?
Honestly: it depends on how you have failed, or expect to fail. If you know the trade and run out of time hunting through books, a tabbed book and worked mock exams may do more for you than a course. If you are losing marks on load calculations, or on the business and law half of a contractor exam, the course is where the structured instruction is.
Tell us which exam you are sitting and what went wrong last time, if there was a last time, and we will tell you which one we would actually buy.
