Texas HVAC & Refrigeration Exam Prep

Preparation for the Texas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor licence, administered by TDLR.

Class A or Class B

Texas splits the ACR licence by equipment capacity. Class A is unlimited. Class B is limited — cooling systems to 25 tons and heating to 1.5 million BTU/hr. You also register in an endorsement: environmental air conditioning, commercial refrigeration, or both. The exam you sit follows that choice, so confirm which you are registered for before buying books.

The reference list

Texas HVAC exams draw on several books at once — the International Mechanical Code, the International Fuel Gas Code and the Uniform Mechanical Code — which is why the kits here come assembled rather than as single titles. A set spanning more than one adoption year is normal.
