2026 NFPA 70® NEC® Texas Exam Edition — Tabbed, Highlighted & Master Electrician Notes

Licensing boards adopt a specific code cycle, and it is not always the newest one. Check which edition your state or jurisdiction tests from before ordering.
See our electrician exam guides by state for the electrical trades. For plumbing and HVAC, or if you are still not sure, contact us with your state and licence level and we will point you to the right book.
Yes. We tab books by hand before they ship — tabs on every major article so you can find what you need under pressure.
Allow up to a week for a tabbed book to be prepared and shipped, since the work is done by hand. If you have an exam date coming up, order early or contact us and we will tell you what is realistic.
Every book we sell is an official published edition. We are a supplier, not a publisher — we are not affiliated with the NFPA, the ICC, or IAPMO.
We carry the official Spanish-language editions where they are published — the real translations, not summaries. Check the Libros en español collection, or contact us and we will tell you whether a Spanish edition exists for this code.
We ship within the United States. Allow up to 10 business days for delivery after your order is processed; most orders arrive sooner. Tabbed orders are prepared by hand, so allow up to a week before they ship.
Ordered the wrong edition? Contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will exchange it, as long as the book is unused and unopened. Damaged or incorrect items are on us. Full terms are in our refund policy.
I know how difficult the electrical exam can be because I’ve been through it myself.
When I took my Master Electrician exam in Texas, I quickly learned that knowing the NEC is only part of the challenge. Time is the other. You can know exactly what you’re looking for, but if you spend too long flipping through hundreds of pages, searching for formulas, or trying to remember the next step in a calculation, those minutes disappear fast.
Texas allowed me to bring an NEC Code Book with permitted handwritten notes into my exam, so I built my book around one goal: help me find the information I needed as quickly as possible.
I passed my Texas Master Electrician exam using that approach.
Now, I'm taking what helped me and putting it into a brand-new 2026 NEC Code Book for you.
Each Master Electrician Edition is individually prepared with tabs, highlighting, and handwritten notes based on the information and methods I found most useful while preparing for and taking my exam.
The notes aren't there just to fill up the pages. They're designed to help you recognize important information and understand where to go and what to do next.
Take motors, for example. Motor calculations can involve multiple steps, tables, and Code sections. That's exactly the kind of topic where valuable test time can disappear. Throughout the book, I add notes intended to help you navigate those types of problems more efficiently.
You'll also find examples and reminders for calculations and situations you may encounter while studying, such as how to approach certain load calculations, where to find commonly tested information, and reminders that can help you recognize the process when you see a similar question.
The idea is simple:
Spend less time searching and more time solving.
I understand what it's like to study for these exams, work through calculations, second-guess an answer, and watch the clock while you're trying to find one specific rule buried in the NEC.
That's why I wanted this edition to be more than a Code Book with colorful tabs stuck on the side.
It's prepared from the perspective of someone who has actually taken and passed the Master Electrician exam and understands the pressure that comes with a timed, open-book test.
My goal is to give you a Code Book that feels familiar before you ever walk into the testing center—one where the important areas are easier to identify and your notes can help point you in the right direction when every minute matters.
Every book includes:
Because the notes are handwritten into each new book, your copy is individually prepared rather than simply pulled from a shelf and shipped.
Exam rules vary by state, licensing authority, testing provider, and exam. Some examinations permit handwritten notes in reference books, while others restrict or prohibit them.
Before purchasing this edition for use during an exam, verify the current rules for your specific examination and testing provider.
I personally used a Code Book containing permitted notes when I took my Texas Master Electrician exam, but that does not mean every state or every electrical examination follows the same rules.
Even if your exam doesn't permit notes, the book can still be used as a study and preparation resource.
This isn't an ordinary Code Book that we simply put in a box and ship.
Every copy requires extensive hands-on preparation.
We install the tabs, highlight the material, and write the notes into your new 2026 NEC Code Book. Because of the amount of work that goes into preparing each copy, please allow approximately two weeks from ordering to receiving your book.
We believe the extra preparation is worth it.
You have enough to worry about when you're preparing for an electrical exam. Finding the information in your Code Book shouldn't be the hardest part.
Prepare smarter. Navigate faster. Walk into your exam knowing your book.
Licensing exams are written straight from the published code. We sell the real editions, so you study the same book the test comes from.
Official Spanish-language editions alongside the English ones, so the language you read in is not what holds up your licence.
Ask for any book to be tabbed before it ships, so you can open it up and get to work instead of losing a weekend.
